I also just finished making your Spiderweb Cardigan which I was so delighted to see a pattern for in Interweave Crochet Spring 2007.Patricehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14607065035443822357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8907371531743756890.post-8871684482248535602007-05-29T12:01:00.000-04:002007-05-29T12:01:00.000-04:00It's also called the griddle stitch, I have used i...It's also called the griddle stitch, I have used it to design a few pieces. It makes a wonderful fabric. Congrats on your blog. You start each row with a sc, then dc in the next st, sc in the next, dc in the next, etc., to the end of the row. The next row, repeat - sc, dc, sc, dc, etc. What you are doing is a sc in the dc of the row below, and a dc in the sc of the row below.
I usually use an H hook with Fantasy Naturale, but go to an I hook for a lacier look - taking into account it's weight and "stretch".
I'd love to see pictures of your shrug/sweater, or any swatching you've done with this yarn, and if you give me permission, I'll post them.
Thanks for the comments! I used Fantasy Naturale to make a shrug pattern that turned out as a cardi. ;-) I used a J hook to get a softer drape but the tradeoff was gappier stitches. It's very comfortable, although a bit heavy, being 100% cotton worsted weight. The yarn is nice and soft to the touch. I have been thinking of making some sampler square pillows with a tighter gauge... sort of glorified swatches! PS What is the stitch pattern in your up/down stitch?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
